Just a correction. There is council tax in Singapore, for each constituency. It works out about $70-80 a month, which includes rubbish collection etc. This is managed by the property owner most of the time and this cost is usually absorbed into the rent charged. Me and hubby own an apartment in Singapore.
Thanks for the info! I had no idea - so I guess it counts as a cost of rent for me, but would be additional to a mortgage payment for property owners. Good to know!
It would be great to compare the travelling costs as well. Although, this wouldn't be an essential cost, I still believe that people in the UK still have it better than here. Thoughts?
Hard to compare like-for-like, I guess. There are cheap flights in Europe, but some cheap flights from Singapore too. Most expats will also be travelling long haul too - although mostly covered by work? Maybe this should be a follow-up post!
